History of Kleinburg

Kleinburg was founded more than 160 years ago, assumedly named after John Nicholas Klein, an early entrepreneur who built a sawmill and gristmill in the area. The mills served the local farmers, and quickly a village sprung up around the mills.

Kleinburg was also a popular resting spot for those traveling to and from Toronto, as the path along the Humber River was the most efficient route. For more information on the History of Kleinburg and a complete guided walking tour, visit the village’s website.
